LAFAYETTE – Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) announced today that Lt. Col. Greg Ellison, U.S. Army (Ret.) will join his district staff as an advisor on energy and transportation (I-49) matters.
Ellison is stepping out of retirement after his career as co-owner and manager of Kitty Hawk Energy, a Lafayette-based oil and gas exploration company. Colonel Ellison is a Lafayette High graduate, a West Point graduate, and a decorated combat veteran. He has been active in the community, serving as a board member of Acadiana Outreach and Ascension Episcopal Vestry, Episcopal School of Acadiana (ESA) Board member, Chairman of the Board for AMIkids Acadiana, and a member of the Louisiana Attorney Disciplinary Board.
“Lt. Col. Ellison is a dedicated patriot with a desire to serve Louisiana and by extension, America,” said Congressman Higgins. “Greg brings a level of knowledge and experience with the oil and gas industry that is unparalleled. He will be a tremendous asset to our mission as we continue to work with business and community leaders to restore energy jobs and modernize infrastructure in South Louisiana.”
Congressman Higgins and Ellison first worked together last year, when Colonel Ellison served as a member of the 3rd District military academy nomination committee.
“Greg and I developed a strong friendship over the last 3 years and during last year’s academy nomination process. As Chairman of the Academy Nomination Board, his love of country and desire to serve was clearly apparent. It will be an honor having Greg on our team,” added Congressman Higgins.
