WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) issued the following statement following the Supreme Court’s decision to uphold President Trump’s travel ban.
“Common sense and the rule of law have prevailed in the Supreme Court. Although I respect the minority dissent, American interests should always prevail in matters of national security. President Trump has consistently acted to keep Americans safe. Today’s decision ensures that immigrants traveling from terrorist hotbeds will be thoroughly vetted. This is sound policy and a necessary measure to protect our homeland.”
Congressman Higgins passionately defended President Trump’s travel ban on the House floor in January 2017, shortly after being elected.
