WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) issued the following statement today after Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Scott Pruitt announced the formal repeal of the Obama administration’s Clean Power Plan.
“The so-called “Clean Power Plan” was just another politically-motivated attempt by the Obama Administration to harm American energy producers through a vast overreach of regulatory powers. We’re committed to rolling back regulations on American businesses and getting the federal government the hell out of the way. No American wants dirty air or dirty water. However, this rule wasn’t about the environment. This federal overreach was about pushing a political agenda. Repealing these regulations is going to have a direct impact on the energy industry, meaning more jobs for American workers and lower energy costs for American families.”
