WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) issued the following response to passage of the Hurricane Harvey relief bill.
“Congress has acted quickly to provide emergency relief to fund life-saving recovery missions and start the rebuilding process in Texas and Louisiana. In the wake of Hurricane Harvey, the people of Louisiana… all of us… came together to help our neighbors during this time of need, helping with civilian rescues and sheltering displaced Americans. It’s uplifting to see such swift action by Congress, and I fully support these efforts. The people of Louisiana and Texas have proven time and again our resilience in the face of disaster, and I’m confident in our ability to rebuild and recover. This congressional action also ensures the National Flood Insurance Program will be authorized and functional for the full duration of hurricane season, something that our office has been battling for, as we continue to iron out the details of a long-term reauthorization.”
