WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) announced today that he is cosponsoring H.R. 2152, the Citizens’ Right to Know Act, by Congressman Ted Poe (R-TX). The bill requires state and local governments that receive grant funds from the Department of Justice for pretrial services programs to submit a detailed report to the Attorney General.

“This is a common-sense piece of legislation that gives federal and state law enforcement agencies crucial data on repeat criminal offenders and helps promote public safety,” said Congressman Higgins. “This bill also takes a hard look at the way we are spending the people’s treasure, giving policymakers better insight into the effectiveness of pretrial release programs.”
