WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) announced today that Lafayette General Health Systems will receive a $311,356 grant to fund the expansion of telehealth services in Acadiana.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture is issuing the rural development grant that will support expansion of the South Louisiana Telehealth Network with hubs in Lafayette, Breaux Bridge, Crowley, and Kaplan and will connect to 30 end-user sites located in Acadia, Evangeline, Iberia, St. Martin, St. Mary, St. Landry, and Vermilion parishes.

Congressman Higgins issued the following statement:

“Innovations in telemedicine are transforming the way that patients in rural communities access health care services. These funds will go a long way in ensuring that vulnerable populations across South Louisiana will have access to medical care in their community and without having to drive long distances. With the expansion of this network, Lafayette General will be able to better serve the citizens of South Louisiana.”
